The Mool Mantra is the foundational statement of Sikh philosophy and theology. It appears at the very beginning of the sikh scripture—THE GURU GRANTH SAHIB. Is is believed to be the very first composition uttered by Guru Nanak Dev ji after his enlightenment at the age of 30. It is a truly humanitarian and global concept of the Supreme power which is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. Gurunanak Sahib discovered something amazing about love, kindness and GOD. He wanted everyone else to feel that joy which he had experienced. Therefore he shared this MOOL MANTRA  showing us how to stay calm and connected to God.

He begins the JAPJI SAHIB  with the MOOL MANTRA ………A  profound message as to who WAHEGURU is and how HE  executes.

It begins with IK ONKAR which means there is only one Creator—–THE ULTIMATE REALITY. Everything we see and feel comes from the same light. God cannot be comprehended through mind . God manifests ceaselessly throughout HIS Creation in diverse forms, still remains ONE.

Then comes SATNAAM which means the name is truth. The physical dimension of Reality( THE OUTER SHELL) is always in a flux; it keeps changing. Birth , death, creation, destruction etc. occur in the physical dimension but the essence of the Creation is SAT that never changes, it transcends space and time.

KARTA PURAKH reminds us that that the CREATOR is aways active, creative, caring and guiding everything quietly even when we don’t notice. HE is the CREATOR and DOER of everything—– all the seen and unseen phenomenon.

NIRBHAU  means GOD is without fear. As GOD is Absolute, HIMSELF imminent in all HIS Creation , whom is HE to be afraid of ? NIRVAIR means without hatred. Creator  does not hold any grudge for anyone .HE has only love and fairness for all.

AKAAL MOORAT tells us that the CREATOR is beyond time and death. HE is an eternal, indestructible Entity.

AJOONI SAIBHANG indicates that the Creator is not caught in the vicious cycle of birth and death but is SELF – EXISTING.

GUR PRASAD reminds us that we can understand all this  in depth only through Guru’s wisdom and grace. Without a True Guru we will be in the darkness of ignorance.

 We should always chant and meditate the name of LORD. GOD was true before the world existed, true through all times, true right now and true forever——–no beginning, no end, no change.

MOOL MANTRA acts as a guide for the seekers leading them away from worldly distractions to internal spiritual awakening and connecting the Soul with the Universe.

When we feel connected with the Supreme Power in our thoughts and dive deep in HIS fathomless ocean of love and Grace HIS qualities begin to shine within us , we become calm, loving, empathetic. Every time we remember HIM our heart grows stronger and more peaceful.
